About Securing Inclusion

The aim of Securing Inclusion, funded by the European Union and uniting seven partner institutions (including Université Catholique de Lille) is to promote inclusion and diversity in the field of security studies; one of the least inclusive and diverse fields in the study of international politics.

It aims to support higher education staff and students in dismantling the explicit and implicit intersectional barriers linked to gender, ethnicity, and religion, which translate into monolithic and outdated teaching and learning environments in the field of security studies.

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Provide a more attractive teaching and learning environment based on participatory pedagogies and digital methodologies;
  • Rethink our definition and approach to security to make them more inclusive and better reflect social, ethnic, linguistic, and cultural diversity;
  • Develop research activities focused on digital content and pedagogical practices;
  • Design new and innovative educational programs that integrate diversity-related issues into security studies curricula;
  • Promote inclusion, equality, and non-discrimination in higher education.
