Required documents
Access to the 2ᵉ year of the master’s programme is open to students holding or about to hold a first-year master’s degree (240 ECTS) in political science or a related subject (sociology, law, public law, international relations, economics, geography, history, languages, civilisation, demography, etc.).
- Transcripts of the 3 years of the Licence (180 ECTS)
- Transcripts from the 1st year of the Master’s programme
- CV in English
- Letter of motivation in English
- Two academic letters of recommendation (English or French)
- One-page description of your dissertation project
- Proof of English language proficiency:
- TOEFL – 80 iBT or 550 PBT or 60 PDF
- IELTS Academic – 6.0
- PTE Academic – 54
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – grade C
- TOEIC – 785
Application procedure
Students outside Europe must start applying via the Études en France platform.
- Create an account on the Études en France platform.
You must complete your CV and then add the programme(s) you would like to study. To find them, follow the steps below:
Général > Master professionnel > Droit, économie, gestion > études européennes internationally
Then all students must apply on the application platform.
- Create an account on the admission platform.
To apply, please register your application on our admission platform between 1ᵉʳ February and 1ᵉʳ May. After this stage, you will receive an email with your login details.
- Completing your application
You can now access your space and fill in the information:
- My profile: Enter your personal details (marital status, contact details).
- My applications: Here you will find the courses you have applied for.
- My secondary studies: In this section, enter your secondary school leaving certificate(s) (type of diploma, year, status, etc.).
- My higher education: In this section, enter the programmes you have completed and the qualifications you have obtained in higher education.
- Summary and payment: This last stage displays a summary of the applications you have submitted.
Once your application is complete, the selection phase begins.
- Selection and enrolment phase
You may receive a positive response from ESPOL until the end of the admissions phase. If you are accepted, you will receive a reply by email.
- Registering at ESPOL
As soon as your application has been accepted, you can log on to the admission platform using your login and password. Then follow the various steps.
Please note! To finalise your enrolment, you must have your CVEC payment certificate number (payment or exemption).
Admission criteria and decision process
The criteria are academic excellence: background and results, professional experience, including internships and community involvement, future plans and motivation, as explained in your personal statement, and personal experience.
The admission procedure for ESPOL Masters Courses is supervised by the Admissions Committee which is headed by the Director of Studies. It consists of 4 phases:
- Eligibility phase: the eligibility of the candidate is checked by the Admission Officer. Eligibility status is communicated with the candidates by the Admission Officer as soon as possible.
- Evaluation phase: desk-based evaluation of eligible candidates by two academic members of ESPOL, appointed by the Admission Committee, and following the admission criteria described above. Based on this double evaluation, the Admission Committee decides on the admission of the candidate to the interview phase.
- Interview phase: candidates accepted to the interview phase are invited (by email) to an interview with one of the members of the Admission Committee.
- Admission decision: based on the results of the evaluation and the interviews, the Admission Committee decides upon the admission of the candidates. The final decisions of the Committee are communicated to the admission officer, who shares the individual decisions with the candidates.
