Over the last years, diversity and inclusion have become major markers of culture change, not least in higher education milieus. While most would agree that one of the main aims of education is to enhance social justice, pedagogical and research approaches in the field of European studies have repeatedly been pinpointed as not sufficiently inclusive and tend to underestimate the diversity inherent in our society. In view of this ideal, our project intends to tackle the four generally-acknowledged dimensions of inclusive pedagogy (beliefs, knowledge, design and actions) that are deemed necessary to make any field more accessible. INES explores ways to increase diversity within the field of European Studies, with regard to students as well as potential and prospective students who face reduced opportunities due to their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic situation, health or disabilities.
