On exchange

What’s the point of an exchange?

Taking part in an exchange means going to study for a semester at one of ESPOL’s partner universities in Europe or around the world. An exchange can take place in your 2nd or 3rd year, depending on your degree.

Our student tell you about their exchange

The small group classes focused on speaking, participation and creativity, which introduced me to a different way of learning and interacting with teachers. Most of all, Rome is a unique city, always bustling with activity […] Rome is all about the dolce vita, happy and serene, but it also guarantees you will never be bored.

Elsa, Rome, Italy

This exchange semester has also given me an enormous amount on a personal level. I was able to meet students from all over the world, and I’m still in contact with a number of them today. This semester gave me the opportunity to discover Canada, its culture and its breathtaking landscapes. A university exchange is a fantastic experience, and I’d recommend anyone who has the opportunity to do one without hesitation.

Matthieu, Edmonton, Canada

I also really appreciated the exchange programme, as I had the opportunity to go to Portugal! I studied international relations there, not political science. It showed me another aspect of the social sciences.

Gabriel, Porto, Portugal

It was a fantastic exchange that enabled me to travel all over Europe and meet some wonderful people. It was important to me that the school offered me new horizons, as I hadn’t really travelled before.

Camille, Bucharest, Romania

What I enjoyed most here was the exchange. It’s my best memory because it was a very special experience. Being alone in a country where you don’t speak the language is a challenge, and it builds character. It may seem difficult, but you soon get the hang of it!

Andréa, Sofia, Bulgaria

This semester was an exceptional experience and it has given me a wealth of experience. Firstly, from an academic point of view, my immersion in this excellent university gave me a huge amount of knowledge about the role of Turkey and its neighbours in the region. In cultural terms, Istanbul is like an open-air museum, its incredible heritage is everywhere.

Pierre-Louis, Galatasaray, Turkey

I really liked the atmosphere of the classes at the university, the teachers were close to the students. The fact that there are only around twenty students in the class means that there is real interaction with the teacher. Students can study in both Portuguese and English, enabling them to make rapid progress in Portuguese and integrate more easily into Carioca life.

Capucine, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
